The Grands Jardins de Calix project involves the conversion of the former CHR site into an inhabited area open to the city, where the landscape is the breadcrumb trail.

The transfer of the Clemenceau RHC site in Caen offers the opportunity to open an enclave of almost 8 hectares in the city in order to reconnect the districts on both sides. The ambition of the project is to highlight its exceptional location on the slopes of Calix and to reintroduce the flexibility of geography to forge links with its surroundings. The new district finds its lines of composition through the staging of the topography and the connections with the neighbouring districts. In this sense, the project revives the tradition of the inhabited gardens of Calix, composed of large blocks in which the buildings are organized around vast gardens. Their architecture, highly contextual, is a contemporary reinterpretation of the surrounding buildings. Organised around a park extending the park of the abbey aux dames, it houses around 600 new housing units, offices along Avenue Clemenceau and local amenities. Several existing buildings have been renovated and punctuate the park like follies. They host a specific program: kiosk, restaurant, gardener's house, to create places of sharing in the neighborhood.
